Bhubaneswar Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday afternoon to attend the three-day All India Conference of Director Generals/ Inspector Generals of Police.
He was received by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at the airport. Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram along with state BJP present Manmohan Samal were also present.
Shah is scheduled to inaugurate the pan-India meet to be attended by Prime Minister Narandra Modi, National Security Advisory Ajit Doval and a host of senior security official at the Convention Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan here from November 29 to December 11.
The Prime Minister, wh0 is scheduled to arrive in the city at around 4.20 pm, will be attending the meet from Saturday.
The DGP-IGP Conference
The focus will be on crucial national security issues such as counter-terrorism, Left-wing extremism, coastal security, narcotics, and new criminal laws, a PIB release stated.
The three-day event will serve as a platform for senior police officers and security administrators to discuss and address operational, infrastructural, and welfare concerns faced by police forces across India. Discussions will encompass the formulation and sharing of best practices in crime control, law and order management, and internal security threat mitigation.

The conference will also see the awarding of the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service.
This year’s conference will also feature a full day of activities, including yoga sessions, business sessions, break-out sessions, and thematic dining tables, providing ample opportunity for senior police officials to engage with the Prime Minister on critical policing and internal security matters, the release added.
