Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted about their visit to Odisha for the DGP-IGP Conference, starting in Bhubaneswar from Friday.
“Over the next two days, will be in Bhubaneswar for the DGP/IGP conference. Senior police officers from all over India will take part in this conference. There will be extensive deliberations on enhancing India’s internal security apparatus. Different aspects relating to policing and improving public safety will be discussed,” the PM posted on X.
He scheduled to arrive in the state capital around 4.20 pm and hold a meeting with state BJP leaders later in the evening.
“This afternoon, I will also be addressing a programme organised by the BJP in Bhubaneswar. Since assuming office in June this year, the BJP Government in Odisha has been at the forefront of boosting the state’s growth trajectory. The state government is taking many measures to improve the lives of the poor and marginalised communities,” he added.
Speaking to the media, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Patra said that the PM will hold discussions with BJP MLAs, MPs and party leaders for over two hours during the visit to state party office. “He will review the progress made in Odisha in the last six months since the BJP government took charge,” he added.
Modi will attend the conference from Saturday.

In a post on X, Shah mentioned that he was keenly looking forward to attending the programme. “Leaving for Bhubaneswar (Odisha) to attend the three-day DGP/IGP Conference. The conference to be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will delve into the aspects of further bolstering Bharat’s security in the face of emerging challenges,” he tweeted.
The Union Home Minister will be inaugurating the meet to be attended National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and a host of top officials of security agencies.

Meanwhile, Doval has arrived in the state capital to attend the three-day pan-India meet.
The conference will be held at the convention hall of Lok Seva Bhawan here. Critical components of national security, including counter terrorism, Left-wing extremism, coastal security, new criminal laws and narcotics among others will be discussed in these three days.
It will also provide an interactive platform for senior police professionals and security administrators in the country to freely discuss and debate diverse national security-related issues, as also various operational, infrastructural and welfare-related problems faced by the police in India. Its deliberations will include formulation and sharing of professional practices and processes in tackling challenges relating to crime control and law and order management, besides internal security threats, a PIB release said.
The President’s Police Medal for distinguished service will also be awarded during the conference.
