Kolkata: Amit Shah, who was scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on Friday night, has cancelled his visit to West Bengal.
The Union Home Minister was slated to address two rallies — at Thakurnagar, in the Matua belt, on Saturday and at Dumurjola in Howrah on Sunday.
According to West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh, the Union Home Minister stayed back in the national capital in the wake of a minor blast near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi on Friday.
According to a Reuters report, Israel is treating the blast as a terrorist incident, though the Indian authorities have not said anything to that effect yet.
“Amit Shah ji’s entire programme on Saturday stands cancelled. Sunday’s rally will be held and it is likely to be attended by some other central leader,” Ghosh was quoted as saying by local TV channels.
