Bhubaneswar: The scheduled two-day visit of Union Minister Amit Shah to Odisha from May 10 has been postponed, sources said on Thursday.
The decision comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan post Operations Sindoor. The Rajouri and Poonch districts have been witnessing heavy artillery shelling from the Pakistani Army, triggering a wave of loss and fear.
Shah was scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar from Jharkhand on May 10, lay the foundation of the forensic university at Jatni, and proceed to Puri for an overnight stay, where he was expected to meet key state BJP members to assess the political situation ahead of the Mohan Majhi government’s first anniversary in office on June 12.
His itinerary also included a visit to Sambalpur to offer prayers at the Maa Samaleswari Temple and lay the foundation stones for various projects. It also included two strategically planned public rallies, PHD Ground in western Odisha’s Sambalpur and Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, demonstrating BJP’s commitment to balanced regional outreach.
While Sambalpur Collector has confirmed the postponement of his visit, the new dates have not been announced yet.
