Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards enhancing passenger convenience and improving long-distance connectivity between Odisha and Gujarat, the Ministry of Railways has decided to operate the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur and Udhna daily.
Official sources said on Tuesday that the Ministry has approved the increase in frequency of Train No. 19021/19022 Udhna–Berhampur–Udhna Amrit Bharat Express from tri-weekly to daily service.
The decision reflects the commitment of the Minister of Railways to strengthen connectivity and provide enhanced travel facilities to passengers across Odisha, Gujarat and the regions en route.
The changes will come into effect from an early convenient date, to be notified shortly.
Notably, the state government had requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to increase the train’s frequency, citing passenger demand. Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena has expressed gratitude to the Railway Minister for approving the request.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Amrit Bharat Express in September, highlighting its potential to boost connectivity, tourism, and economic growth.
The train covers around 1,710 km in 30 hours, passing through key economic hubs in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat .
