Bhubaneswar: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday announced an ex gratia of Rs 3 lakh for each family of six minor workers of Odisha who died in a prawn farm at Lankavani Dibba village under Repalle mandal of Guntur district late Thursday night.
The six minor workers were identified as Ram Murthy Gamang (14), Karunakar Sabar (14), Mohan Sabar (13), Pandab Sabar (17) and Naveen Sabar (15) of Gunupur in Rayagada district and Mahendra Sabar (16) of Gajapati district.
The mishap occurred when they were sleeping in a rest shed of the farm and an overhead high power transmission cable snapped and fell on the shed.
Following information, police rushed to the farm on Friday morning and sent the bodies to the government hospital in Repalle for post-mortem.
Expressing grief over the incident, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each of the bereaved families.
