Andhra-Odisha Border Dispute Intensifies Further
Koraput: The inter-state border dispute between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh over the Kotia panchayat in Koraput district has intensified further.
Sources said an all-party delegation of Odisha will visit Kotia panchayat on Monday to foil the attempt of the Andhra government to launch welfare schemes there.
Notably, the Andhra government is scheduled to inaugurate a plantation programme and two Anganwadi centres at Phatuseneri and Phagunasenari villages. Among others, Salur MLA Peedika Rajanna Dora and senior officials of the Vizianagaram district are likely to remain present on the occasion.
Protesting against the highhandedness of the neighbouring state, MLAs of Jeypore and Pottangi – Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Pitam Padhi – had warned the former of a bloodbath if it tries to trespass into Kotia panchayat.
To thwart the attempts of the Andhra Pradesh government to woo the people of Kotia panchayat, the Odisha government had put up signages in 21 villages of the panchayat mentioning that the area belongs to Odisha state.
