Andhra Pradesh: A bus collided with a truck killing 14 people, including a child, on the national highway in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, early on Sunday morning.
According to sources, only four children managed to survive but two of them are in serious condition. Police are gathering details based on the Aadhaar cards and phone numbers.
The accident happened near a village in Veldurti Mandal of the Kurnool district. The mini bus with 18 people onboard hit the road divider at a breakneck speed, fell over the divider and collided with a lorry approaching from the opposite direction.
“There were 18 people in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The accident took place around 4 am at Veldurti Mandal, near Madapuram, about 25 km from Kurnool,” the Kurnool police chief K Fakirappa was quoted as saying by NDTV.
“The group was going from Madanapalle in Chittoor district to Ajmer in Rajasthan,” the top cop said. The passengers were crushed inside the vehicles and the bodies had to be extricated using machinery, according to the report.
