Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy rain on June 10 and again from June 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
According to the midday bulletin, a fresh cyclonic circulation formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north coastal Odisha & south Gangetic West Bengal this morning even as a cyclonic circulation over Southeast & adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal persisted. The systems may intensify into a low-pressure area over the next few days, triggering heavy rain in the state.
Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts on June 14 and Cuttack and Nayagarh on June 15.
The weather agency has also forecast thunderstorm activity along with lightning and gusty surface winds for several parts of the state till June 13.

Orange warning: Thunderstorm/ lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Angul
Yellow warning: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Rayagada, Deogarh, and Dhenkanal.

Yellow warning: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada.
There will be no large change in the day temperature across the state during this period, it added.
Earlier in its extended range outlook, the national forecaster had predicted formation of a cyclonic circulation/low pressure area over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal this week.
“IMD GFS indicates development of an upper air cyclonic circulation over eastcentral BoB around June 10 with west-northwestwards movement towards Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast till June 14. NCUM indicates development of an upper air cyclonic circulation over eastcentral BoB around June 10 and a low pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal on June 12 with northwestwards movement across central India till June 14. ECMWF is indicating a low pressure area over northwest BoB off Odisha coast on June 17 with west northwestwards movement till June 19. NCEP GFS is indicating a low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal on June 15 with west northwestwards movement and intensification into a depression over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal coast on June 16 and westnorthwestwards movement along the monsoon trough across Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand till June 19.”
