Another Low Pressure To Trigger Heavy Rain In Odisha Till August 14: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast intense rainfall in Odisha triggered by another low-pressure, which is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 72 hours.

“A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around August 13. Under its influence, there will be intense rainfall in the south coastal, interior south and north and some districts in the north coastal districts which will continue for five days till August 13.,” the Met office said.

This is the third low-pressure in August.

Most parts of Odisha have been receiving heavy rainfall since last 36 hours under the influence of a low-pressure over the north-west Bay of Bengal off north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal coast.

In view of heavy rainfall, the IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.

August 10
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nuapada.

August 11
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh and Malkangiri.

August 12
Heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and  Jajpur.

August 13
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sambalpur, Angul, Jharsuguda, Bargarh,  Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal,  Malkangiri,  Koraput and Nabarangpur.

August 14
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh,  Kalahandi, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
