Sambalpur: Amidst hue and cry from different quarters over the rising incidents of minor girl rape, one more such incident has shocked the residents of Gosani in Sambalpur district when a five-year-old was allegedly raped by her neighbour.
Basing on the complaint lodged by the victim’s family members, police have arrested the accused.
According to police sources, they are yet to ascertain whether the accused is a minor or a youth.
A medical examination of the victim will be conducted to intensity further probe into the matter, the sources added.
However, the locals and the girl’s family members suspect the the accused is a minor boy and demanded a thorough investigation into the case.
On April 21, a six-year-old girl was allegedy raped by a 25-year-old youth at Jagannathpur village under Salepur block in Cuttack district.
Similarly, a four-year-old was raped by a minor boy at Tikhiri village of Kendrapara district on April 20.
