Puri: Odisha has lost another doctor to COVID. The ICU in-charge of Puri IDH COVID Hospital, Dr Susant Kumar Panda, breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. He was 48.
According to sources, he was battling the deadly disease for the last few days.
The body was brought to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) premises in Puri and a guard of honour was accorded to him in the presence of Puri Collector Samarth Verma, SP Dr Kanwar Vishal Singh, Dr Sujata Mishra and other doctors and paramedical staff.
His last rites were performed at Sipasarubali beach in Puri, the sources added.
Panda is survived by his wife and son.
According to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), 730 doctors, including 28 from Odisha, have so far died of the coronavirus infection during the second wave of the pandemic.
