Anti-National Slogans Raised In Sambalpur, Can’t Let Odisha Go Bengal Way: BJP MP Suresh Pujari

Bhubaneswar: Expressing apprehensions about a possible terror attack in the state, BJP MP from Bargarh Suresh Pujari on Monday demanded a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into recent incidents, including Odisha links in Atiq Ahmed’s aide Guddu Muslim case and Sambalpur violence.

“Anti-national slogans were raised during the group clash in Sambalpur on April 12. It proves presence of anti-national forces here,” he said while referring the alleged murder of a Dalit youth in the western Odisha town on April 14.

Responding to reports about Guddu Muslim’s visit to Puri, he asked if there was any threat to Jagannath Temple. “What is the link between Guddu Muslim and Raja Khan? Who were given shelter in Odisha? Are they in anyway linked to the Sambalpur violence?” he further questioned.

“We have apprised Union Home Minister Amit Shah on these issues. Odisha Police does not have the resources to conduct a detailed investigation into such incidents and the state government should hand the case over the NIA. We should not let Odisha go the Bengal way,” Pujari added.

Notably, the BJP had earlier alleged that Raja Khan, the close aide of dread criminal Guddu Muslim, is an associate of BJD MLA Susanta Singh.

In a counter, Industries Minister Pratap Deb said that it was BJP which had been creating tension for the last 15 years. “Action should be taken against those breaking the law or instigating violence irrespective of the party affiliation. Let police and law do their work,” he added.
