Puri: Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday morning and offered prayers before the sibling deities.
The Army Chief, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday afternoon on a three-day official visit to Odisha, was accompanied by his wife Sunita Dwivedi. His visit covers Bhubaneswar, Puri and Gopalpur.
This visit marked the second day of his three-day Odisha tour, which began on Friday with a meeting with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at Lok Bhavan.
Sources said the Army Chief and his wife spent an hour at the temple, offering prayers to Lord Jagannath and His Siblings.
Following the temple visit, General Dwivedi is scheduled to travel to Gopalpur by special aircraft. He will review the training infrastructure at the Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur, and interact with serving military officers and ex-servicemen. The Army Chief will also participate in a live firing demonstration at the field firing range in Gopalpur.
Soon after arrival in Bhubaneswar on Friday, the Army Chief proceeded under tight security to the 120 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army), where arrangements had been made for his overnight stay and an official dinner.
