Fresh Low Pressure Forms As Arnab Weakens Into Depression, Moving Away From Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area has formed over the South Andaman Sea amid severe waterlogging and landslides in several parts of Odisha under the impact of cyclone Arnab, which weakened into a depression on Thursday.

The fresh low pressure is likely to concentrate into a well-marked low pressure area in the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per latest weather update, the system will concentrate into a well-marked low pressure area in the next 24 hours and further intensify into a depression in the subsequent 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the deep depression (remnant of very severe cyclonic storm Arnab) moved with a speed of 22 kmph and weakened into a depression on Thursday morning.

The system was centred over the south Chhattisgarh and adjoining south Odisha, about 20 km west of Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh), 170 km southwest of Bhawanipatna (Odisha), 210 km southwest of Titlagarh (Odisha), and 350 km southwest of Sambalpur (Odisha).

It is likely to continue to move nearly northwards, and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area around evening of Thursday.

The system is under continuous surveillance of the Doppler weather radar at Raipur and Sambalpur.
