Aruna Roy demands immediate arrest of Koraput gang rape accused

Bhubaneswar: Aruna Roy, All India President of National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), demanded immediate arrest of minor girl student gang rape accused, while addressing Odisha State Council Meeting of Utkal Mahila Samity here on Monday.

While expressing concern over armed forces behaviour in tribal areas, Roy referred to merciless attack on girl students of Banaras Hindu University. She also criticized the Modi government at the Centre for intruding into privacy of people in the name of Aadhaar card.

“Our Constitution has provided us the rights which under severe attack by the ruling class. Let’s be firm and united to save India,” she added, while informing the gathering about the torch procession to Save Constitution on October 30.

NFIW national General Secretary Annie D Raja insisted on 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies.

Utkal Mahila Samity president Pramodini Paikrai presided over the meeting.

Among others Banalata Jena, Krishnapriya Misha, Bhanumati Reddy, Lipee Misha, Jinmayee Sahani, Manorama Khatua, Sushanti Padatik Ray, Basanti Pradhan, Aruna Barik, Swati Misha, Subasini Bhadra and many other women leaders spoke on the occasion.
