New Delhi: In the latest development in the Aryan Khan drugs case, Sameer Wankhede, former Mumbai Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau, told the Bombay High Court that ‘Shah Rukh Khan paid bribe and must be made accused.’ The court permitted the IRS officer to amend his petition and add additional grounds that the one giving a bribe should also be prosecuted.
According to CBI, Wankhede and four other accused demanded Rs 25 crore as a bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan to not frame his son Aryan after drugs were allegedly seized from the cruise ship.
Seeking interim protection from any coercive action, Wankhede in May approached the high court requesting to quash the case and he was granted interim protection from any coercive action. On Wednesday, Wankhede’s lawyers Aabad Ponda, Rizwan Merchant and Sneha Sanap, sought permission from the court to amend the petition to include additional grounds pertaining to sections under which, a person who offers/gives bribe to a public servant to induce him or her and gain undue advantage shall also be prosecuted. A division bench of Justices permitted Wankhede to amend the plea, but said no more amendments would be permitted. The bench posted the plea for further hearing on July 20 and said the CBI should respond to the amended plea by then. The court extended the interim protection granted to Wankhede till July 20, Times of India reported.
