Bhubaneswar: Maintaining her winning streak, ace sprinter of Odisha Dutee Chand stormed into the semi-final in the women’s 200-metre at the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Dutee covered the distance with a timing of 23.37 seconds.
“I was confident of qualifying for the semi-final. I have the belief that I will win a medal for my country,” she told the media after emerging winner.
She had qualified for this 200-metre sprint event during the 58thNational Inter-State Senior Athletics Championship in Guwahati in June this year, where she had won the silver medal clocking 23.41 seconds.
The promising star became the second fastest woman in Asia after she won the silver in the 100-metre sprint in 11.32 seconds, missing the gold by 0.02 seconds, on Sunday night.
This is Dutee’s maiden appearance in the Asian Games.
