This is the first-ever gold medal for India in the team dressage event and the fourth in equestrian at the Asian Games. The other 3 gold medals came at the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi.
This is also India’s 14th medal at 2023 Asian Games so far, and the third gold. On Monday, men’s 10m air rifle team won the first gold medal of the ongoing games, with the women’s cricket team bagging a second.
Indian sailors Neha Thakur and Eabad Ali had earlier opened the country’s medal count today with a silver and bronze respectively.
