Lahore: Imran Khan believes Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is among those behind Thursday’s attempt to kill him.
Asad Umar, a close aide of former PM Imran, said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief named three persons as suspects masterminding the alleged assassination attempt during a rally in Wazirabad, Punjab province.
Apart from Sharif, Imran is of the opinion that Pakistan’s Interior minister Rana Sanaullah and Major General Faisal are the others behind the attack on him.
PTI shared a video message on social media where Umar said Imran called them from hospital and asked them to convey the message to the nation on his behalf.
“He said that he believes three people were involved in the attack – Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah and Major General Faisal. He said he was receiving information and saying this on that basis,” said Umar, who was accompanied by PTI leader Mian Aslam Iqbal.

Another video went viral earlier, in which the alleged attacker confessed he wanted to kill Imran and that no one else was part of the plan.
Sharif condemned the attack on Imran “in strongest words” and sought an immediate report on the incident from the IGP and chief secretary of Punjab.
Stating that violence should have no place in Pakistan’s politics, Sharif said the federal government will extend all support necessary to Punjab government for security and investigation.
