Assembly Elections: Know What Odisha’s ‘Silver Gandhi’ Is Doing In UP

Lucknow: Everyone knows him as ‘Silver Gandhi’.

Dressed as Mahatma Gandhi and body painted silver, he has walked across seven states spreading the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the past.

At the moment, Mohan Mahapatra is in Uttar Pradesh, campaigning for the BJP.

The 27-year-old from Odisha says he is supporting the BJP as he is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his ideology and policies, according to a PTI report.

He reached Lucknow on February 8. He has met Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP leaders.

When it comes to selfies, he is everyone’s favourite, from children to elders.

Explaining why he chose UP, Mahapatra told the PTI that it’s the heart of the country. “If the heart works properly, the entire body functions well. I want Yogi to be CM again,” he said.

A former student of Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar, Mahapatra first set out on foot from the Jagannath Temple in Puri on June 26, 2016.
