Like Tesla, India’s premium electric scooter maker Ather too has provided over-the-update (OTA) feature on its vehicles to help the company improve its product or add functionalities via a simple software patch remotely. It uses a built-in SIM card with internet to send the updates.
Ather has now introduced a new Eco mode in the latest update that increases the range of the scooter by 10 km without any hardware upgrade. The range in Eco mode is now 75 km. The range of the Ride and Sport modes are now 65 km and 55 km, respectively.
The company also discontinued the entry-level Ather 340 scooter, stating that 99 per cent of its customer base prefer the more advanced 450. The 340 was priced Rs 11,000 lesser than the 450.
The Ather 450 electric scooter features a 7.2 hp (20.5 Nm of torque) BLDC motor, and a 2.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has a top-speed of 80 kmph and accelerate to 60 kmph in 3.9 seconds. It has alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, navigation, smartphone connectivity, and even a reverse mode.
The Ather 450 is priced at Rs 1.13 lakh in Bengaluru. Leasing schemes start at Rs 2,589 per month. There is 3-year warranty on the whole product.
Ather is currently available in Bengaluru and Chennai. Hyderabad is the next city in the pipeline.
