Athletes From Keonjhar’s Jindal Sports Hostel Shine At Junior National Wushu Meet

Joda/Barbil: Wushu players from Jindal Sports Hostel, located at a tribal-predominant region of Odisha’s Keonjhar district, excelled at the 22nd Junior National Wushu Championship in Patna.

They bagged a total of 5 medals including 2 gold, 2 silver and a bronze.

The athletes who brought glory to Joda-Barbil and JSP Foundation were – gold medallists Swetarani Mahanta (48kg Junior category) and Babulu Munda (48kg Youth); silver medallists Sumitra Munda (45 kg Junior) and Prem Munda (48 kg Junior); bronze winner Raj Kumar Munda (52 kg Junior).

The Jindal Sports Hostel is run by JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), under the direct guidance and supervision of Chairperson Shallu Jindal.

Besides supporting and promoting youths of Keonjhar district to take up wushu & kickboxing, JSP Foundation also promotes thousands of rural and tribal sports talents in the country in women’s and men’s hockey, women’s football, kabaddi, kho-kho and cricket.
