New Delhi: It’s been just over two months since Atishi took oath as Delhi’s chief minister on September 21, following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation.
And already, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena thinks Atishi is doing a “1000 times” better job than her predecessor.
Speaking at the convocation of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women on Friday, Saxena said he was pleased that the current chief minister is a woman.
“I am happy that Delhi has a woman CM today and I can say with confidence that she is 1000 times better than her predecessor,” the Delhi LG said, throwing a glance at Atishi who was also on stage with other dignitaries.
It was quite a compliment, coming from a man who has been at odds with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for long.
Besides attacking AAP and its supremo Kejriwal, the constitutional head of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has often been critical of Atishi and other party leaders as well.
Earlier this year, when Kejriwal was in jail in connection with the liquor policy case, Saxena slammed Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj for “lack of seriousness” when summoned to his office to discuss “routine works of governance.”
