Mumbai: Following the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, NCP leader Jitendra Awhad took to his X handle to allege that the actor was attacked by fundamentalists for naming his son Taimur.
Awhad also stated that the injuries sustained by Saif showed that the assailant wanted to kill him.
“Prima facie it shows that the attacker wanted to kill him,” Awhad said, urging Mumbai police to investigate if the attack on the actor was pre-planned.
या दिशेने ही तपास होणे… pic.twitter.com/9atYhziAtl

Maharashtra’s minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam rubbished Awhad’s claims and stated that the opposition wanted to politicise the unfortunate attack on Saif because of his surname.
Asserting that Mumbai is a safe place, Kadam told a TV channel that the attack was a “theft attempt”, and the miscreant will be arrested soon.
“The intruder has been identified and will be nabbed soon,” he said.
“The Opposition only wants to politicise the incident. Mumbai is safe and the opposition is maligning the police,” he added.
Kadam requested people not to link the attack on Saif to late Baba Siddique’s assassination and threats issued to Salman Khan.
Saif was attacked in his home by an unidentified intruder in the early hours of Thursday.
Saif’s elder son Ibrahim took Saif to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw as their driver was not available then.
