Baijayant Panda Gets Death Threat; Warned Of Fate Like ‘Slain’ Odisha Min Naba Das
Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice-president Baijayant Panda has received death threat with an unknown caller warning him of fate similar to Naba Das, the then Health Minister of Odisha who was assassinated in board daylight earlier this year.
“A threat call was received by an assistant of Jay Panda, National Vice President of BJP, in which the caller threatened that “the same thing will be done to Jay Panda which was done to Naba Das)…A complaint with all details of the threat call has been lodged with the Delhi Police yesterday, who are investigating the matter,” the office of Panda said in a release on Thursday.
Since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusations about involvement Indian agents in the killing of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey on June 18, the BJP leader has been criticising Ottawa for supporting terrorists on their soil while professing liberal values, and allowing Khalistani secessionists to hold a so-called ‘Referendum’ in Surrey, British Columbia
Earlier in the day, he again took a dig at the Canadian government and said that the Indian government must consider facilitating an online “referendum on the Quebec independence” issue akin to the one by Khalistani separatists on Canadian soil.
Notably, Naba Das had died of bullet injuries, hours after an assistant sub-inspector of police shot him with his service revolve during an event at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on January 29.
A former MP from Kendrapada, Baijayant, who was first suspended and then quit the BJD in 2018 after being marginalised in the party, had joined BJP in May 2019.
