Mumbai: The Andheri metropolitan magistrate court has issued a bailable warrant against Kangana Ranaut for failing to appear at the hearing on a criminal complaint filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar alleging defamatory statements made by the actor about him, News18 reported.
The metropolitan magistrate R.R. Khan had issued summons to Kangana to appear in court on March 1. However, since the warrant is returnable she has been given a fresh date to appear. Ranaut will now have to appear before the court on March 26.
What happened?
Javed Akhtar had alleged that Ranaut had made defamatory comments against him in interviews with various channels.
The lyricist alleged that on July 19, Kangana gave an interview in which she linked him with the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. A criminal complaint was filed on November 3 before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate under Section 200 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
