Cuttack: A bakery at Sikharpur Uparasahi was sealed after the food safety officials of Cuttack Municipal Corporation raided the unit on Thursday and found it operating without licence.
The stock in the bakery was found to be stale and expired. Rotten eggs and breads with flies hovering them were found during the raid. “The packaged food items did not have a label and there was no mention of manufacturing and expiry date,” said said Satyabrata Mohapatra, Health Officer.
The bakery were using expiry products to prepare the products, said Pratikshya Das Mohapatra, Food Safety Officer. The raid was carried out following complaints from locals, she said and added that the unit will be sealed and products send for quality testing to ascertain how old the products are.
