Bhubaneswar: BJP MLA of Balasore Sadar constituency passed away after suffering a massive heart attack at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. He was 61.
Informing the media here, Manas Dutta said that his father had kidney problems. He had also developed acute arthritis for which he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. However, he died after suffering a massive heart attack while undergoing physiotherapy at the hospital at 9.45 am.
“As my father had kidney complications six months after the Assembly elections in 2019, he was shifted to AIIMS in New Delhi. Though he recovered and came back to Balasore, he then complained of acute joint pain. Later, he was taken to the house of our relative in Bhubaneswar and on the advice of the doctors, he was undergoing physiotherapy at the private hospital,” he added.
The mortal remains of Dutta will be taken to his residence in Balasore later in the day for cremation.
Several BJP leaders, including the Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda and BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra, have expressed profound grief over the death of Dutta.
Dutta had contested the Assembly elections as a BJP candidate of Balasore Sadar constituency for the first time in 2019 and defeated his rival BJD candidate Jiban Pradip Dash.
