Islamabad: A Baloch militant group has claimed control of a Pakistan passenger train, with at least a hundred taken hostage, reports claimed. An intense firing was reported on a Peshawa-bound train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Tuesday, reported the News 18.
This prompted the provincial government to instruct local authorities to take “emergency measures”, reports by the local media in Pakistan claimed.
“There are reports of intense firing at a Jaffar Express [train] going from Quetta to Peshawar,” the Dawn reported, quoting Balochistan government spokesperson, Shahid Rind’s statement. The spokesperson reportedly said the incident could be a possible terror attack.
According to reports, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The militant group reportedly claimed that they had taken hostages from the train, including security forces.
