New Delhi: Amid escalated tension between India and Pakistan following drone and missile attacks by the neighbouring country in some northern Indian cities, Islamabad is reportedly facing internal crisis. Though official confirmations are yet to come, reports by CNN News 18 TV news channel claimed that the Balochistan Liberation Army has launched attack at Pakistan’s major gas fields in Dera Bugti. The country has over 100 gas wells in this region.
The Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed that their fighters have taken control of Quetta, pushing Pakistani army out of Balochistan, reported the Republic.
Pakistan is being cornered on multiple fronts as it escalates tension with India. India has also thwarted multiple attempts by Pakistan successfully shooting down its drones and missiles since Thursday late evening over several Indian cities including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Jaislarmer, Udhampur among others.
Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province by area and mineral-rich yet least populated. It has been plagued by a decades-long armed and peaceful movements by ethnic Baloch people over economic marginalisation, resource exploitation, and human rights abuses.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan supporters have launched a massive protest in Islamabad, asking for his release from the jail, reported Republic TV. There are reports claiming that Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir has been cornered amid India’s retaliation. However, such reports await confirmation from official sources.
