New York: Barack Obama looks to be on way to becoming the best-selling author of the year.
‘A Promised Land,’ the former US President’s new memoir, sold a staggering 887,000 copies on the first day of its hitting the market. The figure includes pre-ordered sales plus physical sales “in all formats and editions in the US and Canada,” Penguin Random House said on Wednesday.
Interestingly, Obama’s wife Michelle was also a best-selling author, CNN Business reports. The former First Lady’s book titled ‘Becoming’ rocketed to the top of the charts in 2018.
According to the publisher of ‘A Promised Land’, this is the “largest first-day sales total for any book ever published” by the company.
Those in the publishing industry are not too surprised by the response of the public; they had anticipated Obama’s memoir to be a huge hit. It’s the first of two expected volumes, and has been the talk of the publishing industry for several months.
