Bhubaneswar: Recently-retired medium pacer Basant Mohanty has been named one of 11 men’s coaches of Odisha Cricket Academy.
The 36-year-old, who retired at the end of the previous domestic season, had a stellar first-class career, bagging 403 wickets in 105 matches.
Among others chosen as coaches by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) are Natraj Behera, Rashmi Ranjan Das, Deepak Mangaraj and KV Prasad.
Former Team India player Dinesh Mongia was earlier appointed as Head Coach-cum-Director of Odisha senior men’s and all age-group teams, while V Venkatram was named Technical Director of the state academy and district academies.
As for the women’s wing of Odisha Cricket Academy, OCA named six coaches including Swagatika Rath and Madhusmita Behera.
Bengal’s former Indian team player Rumeli Dhar has been appointed Head Coach of the Odisha senior women’s team.
All these coaches will be deputed in various Odisha teams which will be participating in different BCCI domestic tournaments based on their experience, expertise and credentials.
