Bhubaneswar-Based Fashion Designer Springs Lockdown Surprises

Bhubaneswar: The lockdown and shutdown have been one of the toughest times for different segments of workforce and fashion business is one such.

The creative minds that are at work round-the-clock took the opportunity to come out with something more appealing for the common man.

One such fashion designer from Bhubaneswar is Sabyasachi Satpathy of Keembdanti fashion label. The Bigg Boss 11 contestant has come up with some mesmerising designs for the people of his city.

Sharing his thoughts and designs with OdishaBytes Satpathy said,
“Corona and lockdown have pulled our lives down and leaving many of us very disturbed, yet we all have to fight and stand up again.”

With this thought in mind, I decided to pick up myself and restart Keembdanti – clothing for all again, he said.

“I had to halt my work due to corona and lockdown, unavailability of material, karigars or even sales. But, after a few months I saw people started accepting the lockdown as a way of life and shopping online  became a routine. Even marriages are being organised with limited friends or family,” Sabyasachi said.

“So, I gathered myself and started working on designs in all kinds of fabrics, from day-to-day casuals to weddings,” said Sabyasachi.

The designer is working with chiffon, georgette, crepe, silk and cotton dresses and outfits. Embroidery to sequins to Odisha Ikkat and even Pure Banarasi are being used to make my collection, said Sabyasachi who aims to post and promote his apparel online.

He also plans to open a flagship store of Keembdanti in Bhubaneswar for people women and men.  “This store and collection is not for a season or reason specifically but to create as much as I can for clients who love colour, good wearable designs and variety in life,” he says with all the passion for his clothing line, which are surely drool-worthy.

“I am working on evening, festive as well as casual wear, besides these collections for men & women and creating wedding outfits along with stocking up handmade products, these are among the many surprise aliments for the store,” the actor said.

My motive is to create many varieties so as to give people the option of buying local quality products as at times we can’t guarantee quality of product when we buy online from bulk sellers, he reasons. The touch & feel factor is important when you buy something which I strongly believe, he said and hence this is also one of the reasons behind opening the store.

His USP: “I am ready with a challenge to make outfit in a ‘couple of hours’ for anyone who in ‘need or urgency’ for any event or occasion.”

The website launch is scheduled on ‘Bahuda Jatra, July 21.
