Bhubaneswar Hottest In Odisha At 41.2°C; Heatwave To Return From Monday, Alert Issued For 5 Districts
Bhubaneswar: The mercury soared to 41.2 degree Celsius in the Odisha capital by 2.30 pm, making it the hottest place in the state on Saturday.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius in 3 places in Odisha. Besides Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur and Chandbali recorded 40.2 degree Celsius and 40 degree Celsius respectively.
Due to northwesterly-westerly dry air and high solar insolation, the daytime temperature is likely to gradually rise by 3 to 5°C at many places in Interior Odisha during the next 3 days. It is expected to remain 2 to 4°C above normal across all districts during the next two days and 3 to 5°C above normal in interior Odisha during the subsequent 3 days., the MeT office said.

The IMD has also issued a heatwave warning for isolated places in some districts for 3 days from Monday.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm is also likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar till 8.30 am on Sunday.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and Mayurbhanj are likely to experience similar weather during the subsequent 24 hours.
Light rain/thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Mayurbhanj on April 25 and Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Balasore on April 26.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak will experience light rain/thunderstorm on April 27.
