Bhubaneswar: Amid gradual rise in day temperature across Odisha, the mercury soared above 35 degree Celsius in at last 14 places in the state on Sunday.
As per the information made available by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4 degree Celsius during the day.
Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district turned out to be the hottest place in the state as day temperature went up to 36.6 degree Celsius in the town. Jharsuguda followed closely recording 36.2 degree Celsius, while the mercury touched 36.1 degree in Angul.
The day temperature stood at 36 degree Celsius in Bhawanipatna, Balangir, Titlagarh, and Boudh.
Sambalpur and Sonepur recorded 35.7 degree Celsius, while the temperature was 35.8 degree in Dhenkanal, 35.6 degree in Hirakud, 35.5 in Bhadrak and 35 degree in Baripada.
The weather agency has forecast that night temperature is likely to gradually rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius during the next three days in the state.
