Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital witnessed a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 46 persons testing positive for the virus.
With these fresh cases, the COVID-19 tally in the city rose to 525. The virus claimed one more life on Wednesday, taking the toll to seven.

Among the new cases, 24 are local contacts while another 22 have been detected among those in quarantine. The local cases include the four employees of RTO-I and as many, undergoing treatment at private hospitals in the city. Three employees of a private hospital and two of a government hospital have also tested positive for the virus.

Among the 22 quarantine cases, 18 have been infected by previous patients.
Meanwhile, 18 more COVID-19 patients have been cured of the infection. With 7 deaths and 295 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 222 active cases.
