Bhubaneswar: The heat wave condition in Odisha intensified further on Monday with the capital city Bhubaneswar and Titlagarh being the hottest places at 41.5 degree Celsius each.
Apart from this, the temperature remained at 40 degrees at 11 places in Chandbali (40.7), Cuttack (40.1), Angul (40.7), Baripada (41), Talcher (40.5), Balangir (41.2), Titlagarh (41.5) (Malkangiri (40.2), Nayagarh (40), Boudh (40.5 and Paralakhemundi (40).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in an evening release has warned that the maximum day temperature will be above normal by 2-3°C over the districts of coastal Odisha while it will be 40°C or more in some places over the remaining districts during the next 3-4 days.
The national weather agency has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface speed in the following districts.
April 14
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Ganjam, Kandhamal.
April 15
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Khurda.
April 16
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.
April 17
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Angul, Rayagada and Keonjhar.
