Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday approved a significant increase in the salary of contractual AYUSH doctors working under National Health Mission (NHM) in Odisha.
According to a CMO release, the hike ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 per month, depending on their period of service. Doctors with less than 5 years of experience receive a Rs 20,000 increase, raising their basic pay to Rs 56,948. Those with 5 to 10 years of service see their monthly pay rise by Rs 25,000 to Rs 74,467. Doctors in the 10–15 year bracket will get an increase of Rs 30,000, resulting in Rs 80,467 per month. Those with more than 15 years of service get the highest hike of Rs 40,000, taking their monthly salary to Rs 91,467.
“The decision aims to recognise their valuable contribution to healthcare services and to further motivate them in delivering quality medical care, particularly in the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) sector,” it said,
Currently, there are 2,912 AYUSH doctors engaged on a contractual basis under NHM in Odisha. The salary revision is expected to cost the state exchequer an extra Rs 1 crore.
Chief Minister Majhi expressed confidence that this move will lead to further improvement and strengthening of AYUSH healthcare services across the state, benefiting public health delivery, especially in rural and underserved areas.
