Patna: A Bihar court on Saturday granted interim relief to educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with the coaching institute firing case, while hearing his anticipatory bail plea. The court upheld its earlier “no coercive action” order and directed police not to take any harsh action against him until the next hearing, reported HT.
The case stems from a June 2 incident involving firing, stone-pelting and vandalism outside the Khan Global Studies coaching institute in Patna. Patna Police had subsequently registered an FIR against Khan Sir and two others under provisions related to abetment and the Arms Act.
According to police, a group of individuals allegedly vandalised the institute and pelted stones at the premises on the night of June 2. During the investigation, officers recovered video footage purportedly showing two individuals firing shots into the air after the vandalism. Two security guards associated with the institute were later arrested based on the video evidence.
Police said that after examining the sequence of events and recovering weapons, they named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR. The educator has denied wrongdoing and sought anticipatory bail.
The court’s order provides temporary relief to Khan Sir from arrest while the matter remains under judicial consideration. The case diary and other investigation records are expected to be examined during subsequent hearings.
Following the incident, Patna Police appealed to students not to be influenced by rivalries between coaching institutes. “All students are requested not to be misled by anyone amidst coaching center competitions. No compromise will be made regarding crime control and the maintenance of law and order,” police said in a statement, according to reports.
