Bird Flu Scare: 24 Crows, 10 Ducks Found Dead At Delhi Park & Lake

New Delhi: At a time when bird flu cases have been reported in six Indian states, including neighbouring Haryana, at least 24 crows have been found dead at a park in south Delhi in the last three days, while 10 ducks were found dead at the Sanjay Lake.

A PTI report says samples of the ducks have been sent to labs to ascertain if they died from bird flu.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) said they are monitoring the situation closely.

“We are monitoring the situation very closely as Delhi Development Authority (DDA) owns a large number of public parks many of which have water bodies,” a senior official was quoted as saying.

He added that all parks are open as of now. “However, at places like Hauz Khas, which has a big lake and where a lot of birds flock to, security personnel are cautioning them to avoid visiting given the bird flu scare,” the official said.

Crow samples have also been sent to labs for testing.

Bird flu outbreak has so far been confirmed in Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, the Centre has said.
