Lucknow: Ravi Daurala, a sharpshooter linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was arrested after an encounter in Baghwali outpost area, under New Mandi police station limits of Muzaffarnagar, on Friday night.
The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), which carried out the operation, recovered a pistol, seven cartridges and a motorcycle from his possession.
Daurala, carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his alleged role in a Rs 11-lakh robbery in Muzaffarnagar, plus Rs 25,000 in Delhi, where he allegedly shot a man and looted Rs 4.5 lakh, officials informed.
Daurala, resident of Bhagwanpuri in Meerut, was a sharpshooter for Sunny Kakran, another key member of Bishnoi gang, said ASP (STF) Brijesh Kumar Singh.
On Sunny’s instructions, Daurala had demanded Rs 5 lakh from cloth trader Swadesh Vikal in Meerut in May 2023. On being refused, Daurala allegedly fired at the shop, leaving Vikal’s son Arun critically injured.
A bounty of Rs 50,000 bounty was announced against Daurala in this case.
Daurala’s criminal history stretches back over a decade.
In 2015, Daurala had helped Arvind, a robbery accused, escape from custody.
In February this year, Daurala, along with Arvind and Sunny, shot a man in Delhi’s Keshavpuram and looted Rs 4.5 lakh. In April, Daurala and Arvind robbed a husk contractor of Rs 11 lakh in Muzaffarnagar, which led officials to place a R1 lakh reward for any information about him.
Among other cases against Daurala are those of robberies and extortion in Meerut’s Civil Lines and Muzaffarnagar’s Khatauli, looting a motorcycle in Meerut’s Kankarkheda.
In all, 21 cases are currently registered against Daurala in Delhi, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar.
