Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD on Wednesday announced a three-day strike from May 28 to protest against rising fuel prices.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, party general secretary Sanjay Das Burma said, “The party members will hold peaceful demonstrations and awareness drives across all the 314 blocks of the state from May 28 to May 30 to sensitise public on how the Central Government is exploiting people in the name of development. It is quite unfortunate that petrol price has now touched Rs 84.99 per litre and diesel costs Rs 72.76 per litre, owing to the poor policy of the Centre.”
He said the party will also stage a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. “We will submit a memorandum addressed to President of India through Governor seeking his immediate intervention in the matter,” Das Burma added.
