BJD Leader’s Wife Injured In Bomb Explosion In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Tension prevailed in Sisua panchayat of the district as bombs were allegedly hurled at the house of a candidate for panchayat samiti member post in the ensuing elections on Wednesday.

According to sources, some unidentified miscreants threw crude bombs at the house of BJD leader Dilip Dash, the candidate in the panchayat polls in Salepur area. As the bombs exploded, Dilip’s wife was critically injured. She has been admitted in the local Community Health Centre (CHC).

On being informed, police have reached the spot and started investigation. While the accused are yet to be identified, they suspected to be a case of political rivalry.

Though Dilip claimed before the media that he did not have enmity with anybody, he suspected that some party workers, who have turned against him, might have committed the act.

However, the BJD leader has not filed any complaint with the police regarding the incident.

It may be noted that a zilla parishad candidate of BJD was injured after being attacked by supporters of the opposition party in Puri district in a poll related violence on Monday night. Pre-poll violence was also reported from Digapahandi block of Ganjam district on Sunday.
