BJD Member Accuses KV Of Giving Political Twist To Condolence Address In House
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly on Tuesday witnessed an unsavoury incident during the condolence address by the leader of the BJP legislature party, KV Singhdeo.
The incident took place when the BJD member and Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debasis Samantray stood up and protested against Singhdeo for delivering a political speech while paying tributes to the former Prime Minister in the House.
Talking to mediapersons about the incident outside the Assembly, Singhdeo said his condolence address was not aimed at anybody except the former Prime Minister. “What I had said was my personal feeling. I don’t expect him (Debasis) to agree with my speech wherein I had said that it was Vajpayee who had taught politics to Naveen Patnaik. Had the former Prime Minister been alive, he would have deeply regretted the mode of administration of the Chief Minister,” he asserted.
Expressing displeasure over the incident, leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra said as the Chief Minister, who is the leader of the House, had brought the condolence motion, all the members should have paid their tributes to the departed souls. But the incident which took place in the House was grossly unfortunate.
“Let there be no further debate on this issue as it will be a gross disrespect to the former Prime Minister,” Mishra observed.
