Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to stage a demonstration in Bhubaneswar on January 6 to highlight rise in the prices of essential commodities and several other issues as part of its plan to step up attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
In an open letter to party workers and leaders ahead of the 28th foundation of the regional outfit, BJD president Naveen Patnaik called upon them to raise voice against the BJP government’s failure to control price rise which he said has hit the poor and middle class.
The BJD supremo said that the foundation day will be observed in all assembly constituencies in the state.
Asserting that BJD is dedicated to the service of people of Odisha in the last 27 years, the former Chief Minister said though BJP formed the government in the state, people have given more votes to the regional party.
Stating that BJD will raise people’s voice in different platforms as a responsible opposition, he said the party works for the betterment of all sections of society on the ideology and policies of Biju Patnaik. BJD will reach out to all and work with dedication to serve the people in 2025, he said.
Sharing details on the proposed demonstration in Bhubaneswar, senior BJD leader and former Minister Debi Prasad Prasad Mishra told a press meet on Wednesday that the January 6 protest will be over price rise of all essential commodities and inflation.
Attacking BJP for its slogan of double-engine goernment, Mishra said it has turned into double failure government in the state as well as at the Centre.
Another senior party leader and former minister Sanjay Das Burma said the over 5,000 party members are expected to participate in the demonstration which will focus on key issues faced by the people of Odisha, particularly price rise.
