Berhampur: Police on Thursday detained Nilamani Bisoyee, a BJP candidate contesting the Sorada Assembly seat, on the charge of ransacking the EVM control unit in booth no-182 in Sorada. Polling was disrupted after Bisoyee barged into the booth.
Informing the media, Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray said that following a complaint lodged by the presiding officer and the polling staff, police detained Bisoyee at the Sorada police station for further interrogation.
Ganjam Collector Bijay Amrut Kulange, said he will apprise the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the incident.
