Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin, who is on a two-day visit to Odisha, on Monday hoisted a 100-foot-tall national flag at Asian Institute of Public Health University campus at Jatni, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The event was part of the district-level Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Maha Abhiyan-2026, a nationwide cadre training and orientation programme aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots network and ideological grounding ahead of upcoming local body elections in the state.

Nabin, accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, addressed party workers and engaged in detailed discussions on organisational matters, public service, and the party’s guiding principle of “Nation First”. An e-bike rally was organised to escort participants to the training camp, aligning with the Prime Minister’s appeal for fuel conservation.

The BJP chief also inaugurated an exhibition, showcasing the journey of the organisation’s ideology, along with the public welfare works and achievements of Narendra Modi government over the post 12 years at the Centre as well as the developmental efforts carried out in Odisha over the last 2 years. “This display of commitment to public service, good governance, and nation-building provides workers with new energy and direction,” he wrote on X.

Following the training programme, Nabin and CM Majhi visited Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and his sibling deities. “…Following the elections in West Bengal and several other states across the country, having the darshan of Lord Jagannath is a moment of great fortune for all of us… Chief Minister and all of us have come to pray  for happiness, peace, and prosperity for the people of Odisha and the entire nation…. Just as the Prime Minister and the entire nation have continuously received the blessings of Lord Jagannath, we shall continue to bow our heads in humility, always seeking His divine grace in the future as well…,” the BJP chief told reporters.

Earlier in the day, Nabin chaired a meeting of the Odisha BJP core committee at the party’s state headquarters. The meeting was attended by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV SIngh Deo and Pravati Parida, state BJP President Manmohan Samal, and other senior leaders. Discussions focused on organisational strengthening, coordination between the government and the party, and strategies for the months ahead.

Samal, Puri MP Sambit Patra and BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi were also present during key engagements.

Party leaders view Nabin’s two-day visit — which began on Sunday evening — as a significant morale booster for workers. It comes ahead of the BJP government’s second anniversary in June and is expected to help fine-tune strategies for panchayat and urban local body polls scheduled next year.
