Chandigarh: A fresh political storm has erupted in Punjab after allegations surfaced that a fabricated forensic report was allegedly commissioned to declare a controversial video linked to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as fake. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded Mann’s immediate arrest, accusing him and Punjab government officials of being involved in a conspiracy to influence forensic findings.
The controversy intensified after Gurugram Police registered an FIR and arrested two individuals in connection with an alleged attempt to procure a fabricated digital forensic report related to the viral video. According to the complaint, the report was allegedly prepared to support the claim that the video was AI-generated and did not feature the Punjab Chief Minister.
The video at the centre of the controversy reportedly shows Mann sprinkling alcohol on the photographs of Sikh Gurus. Mann and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have consistently denied the allegations linked to the clip, maintaining that the video is fake. The Chief Minister has previously cited reports from independent laboratories outside Punjab which, according to AAP, concluded that the individual seen in the footage was not Mann.
The latest arrests have added a new dimension to the controversy, with Haryana Police now probing whether any fabricated forensic material was prepared and whether government officials played a role in the process.
