New Delhi: Nand Kishore Gurjar, the BJP MLA from Ghaziabad’s Loni constituency, has alleged a “conspiracy to kill him” days after his party issued him a showcause notice over indiscipline.

Pulled up for his outbursts against the Uttar Pradesh government, Gurjar claimed there was a plan to create communal clashes just to “kill” him during Kalash Yatra, a religious procession in the city.

Replying to UP BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary’s showcause notice, Gurjar said an IPS officer posted in Lucknow had informed him that the local police will create some problem during his Kalash Yatra procession ahead of ‘Ram Katha’.

“Around 11,000 women carrying Kalash on their heads took out a procession which was intercepted by police on the pretext that permission was not taken by the organisers. Police manhandled me and some of my supporters received injuries,” Gurjar wrote to Bhupendra, reported PTI.

“Police misbehaved with the women who were fasting and walking barefoot with Kalash on their heads. Three Muslim boys had already told me that police hatched a plan asking them to pelt stones from their roof to create a communal flare-up in Loni. Police wanted to make it an excuse for opening fire at me,” alleged the BJP legislator.

“One IPS officer posted in Lucknow had informed me in advance that police will create a hindrance in the Kalash Yatra and will lathicharge me. I could even be shot dead,” Gurjar mentioned in his reply.

Gurjar pledged his loyalty to the saffron party, and urged that a BJP team be sent to Loni to investigate the alleged police misconduct.

He opined that the authorities were targeting him for his vocal stance against corruption and for championing rights of the marginalised.

BJP’s charge against MLA

State BJP chief Bhupendra criticised Gurjar’s recent public comments on the government and his alleged actions that “tarnished” the party’s image.

“For a while now, your public criticisms of the government and your conduct have harmed the party’s reputation, which is deemed indiscipline. In accordance with directives from BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, you are required to provide an explanation within seven days as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against you,” Bhupendra stated in the notice to Gurjar.

On March 21, Gurjar said in a press conference that UP has the “most corrupt government ever” and the officers were misleading Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and looting the exchequer.

“The chief secretary is the most corrupt officer in the world. The officers have looted land in Ayodhya,” he had said, as quoted by PTI.
